Writing can be difficult, trust me I know. You have to come up with the topics and of course write about things that matter to your customers. Yet, isn’t it worth all of that hard work if it truly drives traffic to your site and boosts your business? In reality, chances are your website already has the blog section ready but nobody is posting, or at least not regularly. But why not take advantage of that marketing opportunity? Here are some tips and tricks to help you build a successful blog.

Utilize Your Sources.

There are many questions and answers  forums out there for customers and business owners alike to converse. Utilize this. Find questions or concerns that pertain to your business and address them in your blog. Then make sure you link it to the post to answer the persons question and vualá you just earned yourself another potential customer and boosted SEO at the same time. Talk about killing two birds with one stone, right?

Give it Personality.

Nobody wants to read boring content. I know what you are thinking. This is a business blog. Don’t I want to make everything sound professional, buttoned up, neat and tidy? Well, let me ask you this? Did you enjoy writing term papers, let alone reading them? Viewers don’t want to either. They want to read something enjoyable that is also informative. That is why it is imperative to not only be informative, and let’s not forget honest, but your blog needs to have a voice. It needs to be personality driven. If you picked up a magazine, would you really read an article that was stale and sounds written by a computer, Probably not. By giving your blog a voice, you instantly add personality and character to the content, making it much more entertaining. Which in turn, makes the content more enjoyable to read and brings your business more viewers

Follow a Schedule.

Consistency is key to any blog. Everybody has their own idea on what the right algorithm is for posting but I have found that the answer isn’t definitive. Meaning, that the answer may vary based on your business and/or business size. For smaller companies I find that at least 2 days a week is a very good goal. It keeps you on a regular posting schedule that viewers can learn and gives you weekly content to post about on social media. For larger companies, 3-5x/week is usually ideal. If you plan on posting 3-5x a week, a clear, concise schedule must be set and followed. Don’t postpone posts. It may be easy to do due to scheduling conflict but do not do this. Lastly, make sure you address any comments or questions. Stay active with the community. Besides, that is the point of the blog

Promote Your Blog.

There are so many ways your company can effectively promote its blog, but today, let’s put the focus on the two that are easiest to achieve. Let’s start with email marketing, one of the most effective ways to promote your blog and convert viewers if done correctly. By adding a short form to your blog, it allows you to compile an email list based on interested viewers. This list can be used to notify viewers of upcoming blog posts or general information about your company. But it is important to remember not to overwhelm them or you may lose your potential customer. The second category, as I’m sure you’ve already guessed it, is social media! This method offers more exposure quickly and efficiently. We suggest you share your blog on networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and/or Pinterest. These social networks offer many perks such as: increasing traffic to your blog, they are cost-effective, and they allow you to improve your engagement with your audience.
